|I hope that someone can help or advise me please.
I have recently bought a Crosman 140 by proxy bid at an auction. When I received the rifle I noticed that although it has 'Crosman Model 140 and .22' stamped on the breech cover, it has 'Crosman Arms Canada Ltd, Crosman .177 Cal. Ontario, Crosman 147' stamped on the barrel.
My questions are as follows please:-
1. A friend has suggested that the rifle started life as a model 140 and someone has fitted a 147 barrel to increase the power. Is this possible/likely ? Any other suggestions why it has a 147 barrel and a 140 breech cover.
2. I'd like to replace the seals and wondered if a 140 seal kit is the same for a 147.
3. When I strip it down, is there anything that will tell me if whether it was a 140 or a 147 originally.
I'd really appreciate any help on this.
PS I believe it is a variant 3 as the safety catch passes through the stock.
